Brazilian Politics, Economy, and Foreign Policy Agenda

Particularly after the world financial crisis of 2008 Brazil has been singled out as one of the most promising economic and political actors in the international scene. Nevertheless the country has many problems and difficulties to deal with in the years to come, both in the domestic domain and in the international politics and economy. The purpose of this course is to offer a comprehensive discussion on the most relevant aspects regarding political and economic issues that can affect more directly the Brazilian prospects within the changing international order. Economic stability and development, environment, foreign trade, defense and security, political institutions, and multilateral and regional politics are among the topics to be discussed by University of Brasilia Faculty members and by some guest speakers with expertise in the various subjects of the course.

Period: from August, 23rd  to December, 20th 2013, every Friday morning
